I bumped into this fantastic vegan restaurant in Arco, province of Trento in Italy. Funny enough I saw a large banner above a balcony with 'Veganima' on it. I followed my gut feeling and stepped off my bike (of course: a Dutch girl bikes everywhere) to ask where this vegan store was located. The woman pointed me the way and I hurried to it, because I was a bit hungry. Surrounded by a hedge I was surprised to see such a lovely garden with quiet a few seats. It looked very fancy. The waiter came up to my table and offered me a nice bottle of water which I thought I had to pay later but turned out to be free. I walked inside and... I was surprised to see at least 10 different type of pies on the counter and trays with lasagne, salads and so more.
I was so caught up by the sweet stuff I did it hear the nice owner who had approached me to explain what everything was. All was home-made, free from glute, most of it was vegan like the tiramisu (!) and sweetened by unrefined sugar. I went crazy! Every lunchmeal and dinner I had to pass the dolci, the beautiful Italian desserts our cook made. It was fine for me in the begining, but though... my sweet tongue wished some Love Choc or other raw chocolate cakes I use to have when I am in Amsterdam and craving for something sweet.
Of course: Restaurant Veganima is all vegan which means free from animal made ingredients like cow or sheep milk. The owner asked me where I was Thursday evening because it was pizza night: yes, all vegan. I really wished I had a car so I could come here by myself. I explained it was really not possible for me. I finally choose the raspberry cheesecake which you can see in the video above. The bottom of the cake was just I had expected and all I was longing for: firm, cookiedoughish, crumbly. The topping was fresh of the raspberry fruit and decorated with little eatable flowers.
Well, the mmmm-sound will answer the question if I liked it. Of course it was due to the fact I was longing so much for something sweets I could eat! For 14 days I had no chocolate, no cookie, nothing sweets while I had seen the most lovely desserts for lunch and dinner... My body wanted this, needed this, so I digged in and I could not leave it with this piece only....
