The Story About Me...
Hi! My name is Trix and welcome to my website 'Trix Tasting Tips'. I loooveee tasting food. This website was started partly out of enthusiasm for food and partly born from a hobby. When I eat something I think it's very delicious, I make little humming sounds. Althought, I don't really notice anymore I do, but sitting alone in a fancy restaurant give sometimes weird looks...
Tasting food is totally different than eating
About the definition of food I guess when we can discuss for hours. For me, food should be nutricious; food must still contain its natural ingredients; pure from the source; not processed; no added with chemicals and of course, it has to be yummy.
Bottom line, this means for me: bio, organic, honest prepared, pure, delicious food. Impossible to find? Well say hello to grains, fruits and veggies. It IS possible.
There is a reason I got this critical about food. You may call it picky if you wish. In the past I had a difficult relationship with food. Let me start to make a confession: I was a sugar addict. So bad that it made my heart race and my body sweat like hell during the night. And I was a compulsive eater. I thought about food every moment of the day. Either, I gave myself permission to eat anything, or I was very strict to myself. Both ways were a very exhausting way of living.
People asked me what I ate back in those days. I was ashamed to admit, but now it makes me laugh. How was it possible for me to eat thát much and not gain tonnes of weight? Of course I had a low self esteem. Yes, dealt with that too. I love myself every day more and my beautiful body as well.
I will give an impression of one of the creative dinner meals I ate when I had those cravings: a big plate of tortilla chips with slices of melted goatcheese with on top spoons of jam and honey; 0.5l Ben & Jerry's icecream; a bowl of tiramisu; a large package M&M's and peanutbutter sandwich and a pack ricecrackers with or butter with chocolate sprinkles alternating by goatcheese with jam...
I learned to listen to my body due to yoga and mediation so I could step out of this pattern. I adjusted my food naturally. I listened to what my body told me to eat or not. Of course it helped my body was screaming for something different and I respected that.
Sowly and equally I stepped out of my head into my body. Eating was fun again, without dealing with fights in my head. From a compulsive eater I became a mindful relaxed eater.
That is -in short- my story. On this website under 'MINDFUL TASTING' you will find some more blogs I posted on previous websites about my own process over the years. Maybe you will recognize something or it will help you to explore your own way of living.
BLIPS are blogs and tips about tasting adventures in Amsterdam. It can be anything and anywhere: overnight oats or pancakes for breakfast, sugar free bars for a snack, to-go-meals from a bio supermarket, vegan tiramisu as dessert. Of course I will put down the location where I found the food or the recipe if I made it myself. I offer you pictures and sometimes vlogs about the food and the taste moment.
I offer you all my senses to taste the food properly and share it with you. I hope you will like it. ENJOY!
Ps: if there is anything you want to share with me? Food I need to taste somewhere? Remarks? Feel free to do so!
